WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU WAKE UP ANXIOUS
🌿 A Christian Morning Reset
Finding God’s peace in the first moments of the day
The Moment You Wake Up Anxious (WHY)
It’s 6:30 a.m. Your alarm goes off, and before you even open your eyes, your mind is already racing.
You feel it in your chest — that tight, heavy weight. Thoughts come fast and scattered: I have too much to do… what if something goes wrong today?
If this is how your mornings often begin, you’re not alone. Many Christian women wake up already feeling worn out before the day has even started. But here’s the good news: God doesn’t leave you to battle those anxious thoughts alone.
Psalm 46:1 reminds us:
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”
You don’t have to wait until the anxiety passes to meet with Him. You can start turning it around before your feet even hit the floor.
How to Reset Your Morning When Anxiety Hits (HOW)
Step 1 – Pause and Breathe in His Presence
Before you pick up your phone or start replaying your to-do list, close your eyes and take a slow, deep breath. Whisper, “Jesus, I give You this morning. Be my peace.”
Step 2 – Sit Up and Change Your Posture
Anxiety feeds on stillness-in-fear. By physically moving — sitting up, opening the curtains, placing your feet on the ground — you’re telling your body, We’re starting fresh today.
Step 3 – Read One Scripture Out Loud
Choose a verse that speaks directly to fear and anxiety. Here are a few:
Isaiah 26:3 — “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.”
John 14:27 — “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
Reading aloud helps drown out spiraling thoughts and invites God’s truth to set the tone.
Step 4 – Do a 3-Minute Gratitude Reset
Grab your journal (or the notes app on your phone) and list 3 things you’re grateful for in this moment. They can be small — the sunlight coming in, the comfort of your bed, the breath in your lungs. Gratitude shifts the mind toward God’s faithfulness.
✨ Calming Tip of the Day
Before you start your Bible reading, open a window or step outside for a few minutes. Let the morning air fill your lungs, notice the sounds of birds or rustling leaves, and pray one short prayer of thanks. This simple act connects your body and spirit to God’s creation — a natural reminder that He is in control of this day.

When the Morning Still Feels Heavy (ENCOURAGEMENT)
Some days, even with your best efforts, the heaviness may linger. That’s okay. Peace is not always a switch you flip — sometimes it’s a gentle unfolding as you keep turning your thoughts toward God.
Remember, He’s not measuring how “calm” you are before you can come to Him. He’s already here, ready to carry the weight you woke up with.
Matthew 11:28 — “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
So, sister, before you let the day sweep you away, pause. Breathe. Open your eyes to His presence. You don’t have to carry the morning alone — the One who holds the sunrise also holds you.
