🍂 Trusting God in the Unknown by Serving Others

🌧 When Anxiety Turns You Inward

When life feels uncertain—health worries, shifting seasons, or not knowing what tomorrow will bring it’s easy to get stuck in your own head. Anxiety feeds on self-focus, circling around “what ifs” and “what about me.” But staying inward only increases the storm.

God invites us to a different way: take your eyes off yourself and place them on Him and others.

📖 A Different Focus: Serving Others

Philippians 2:4 tells us, “Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.”

Serving others isn’t just about being kind. It’s a way to step out of fear and into trust. Every time you lift someone else up, you remind your own heart: God is in control of my needs, so I can freely give.

🍁 How Serving Others Helps You Trust God

  1. It redirects your thoughts. Serving quiets self-focused worry and replaces it with outward love.

  2. It reflects God’s heart. Small acts of kindness shine His light when the unknown feels dark.

  3. It teaches surrender. Choosing to love others in uncertainty is an act of faith—saying, “Lord, I trust You to handle what I can’t.”

  4. It brings peace. Serving creates space for God’s presence to calm your anxious thoughts.

🌻 Practical Ways to Serve This Fall

Serving doesn’t have to be complicated. Try one of these simple, seasonal ideas:

  • Deliver a warm loaf of pumpkin bread or soup to a neighbor.

  • Write a heartfelt note and slip it into one of our fall encouragement cards.

  • Offer to help someone with yard work, rake leaves, carry groceries, or run an errand.

  • Invite someone for a walk and simply listen.

  • Donate cozy items like blankets, socks, or scarves to your local shelter.

Every act of service is a quiet step of trust, reminding you that God is handling your unknowns.

Calming Tip of the Day:
When anxious thoughts arise, pause and pray. "Lord, show me one person I can serve today." Write down the name that comes to mind-and follow through with one small act.

✍️ Journaling Reflection

Take a few minutes with your journal and reflect:

  • Who is God placing on my heart to serve right now?

  • What gifts, time, or resources has He given me that I can share?

  • How does serving someone else help me trust God with my own unknowns?

💖 A Closing Word of Peace

Friend, when you’re walking through the unknown, remember this: peace often comes not from looking inward, but from looking outward. Each act of service is a seed of trust planted in faith, watered by God’s love, and grown into peace that calms even the most anxious heart.
