TRUSTING GOD IN THE UNKNOWN
🍂 What Jesus Taught About Fear and Anxiety
September always feels like a reset. Summer ends, kids go back to school, routines shift, and life speeds up again. With all those changes comes a flood of uncertainty and with uncertainty often comes fear, worry, and anxiety.
If you’ve felt the weight of the “what ifs” lately, you’re not alone. Transitions have a way of shaking our peace and making us feel like we have to control everything. But here’s the truth: Jesus spoke directly into those moments of the unknown.
This month, as we step into new rhythms together, we’re focusing on one theme:
✨ Trust God in the Unknown and Rest in His Presence. ✨
And to help you live that out, I’ve created a September Scripture + Journal Prompt Bundle you can download for free at the end of this post. But first, let’s look at how Jesus Himself addressed fear, worry, and anxiety and how His words invite us to rest.
🌿 1. Anxiety Shows Us What We Value (Matthew 6:19–24)
When our hearts cling to temporary things like money, health, reputation, schedules we naturally grow anxious when those things are threatened. September transitions highlight this: new routines can stir questions like “What if I can’t keep up?” or “What if something goes wrong?”
Anxiety becomes a mirror, showing us what we’re truly holding onto. But Jesus reminded us: what lasts forever matters most. When our values align with God’s, fear loses its power.
👉 Reflection Prompt: Lord, what does my anxiety reveal that I’m clinging to?
🌿 2. Anxiety Reflects How We See God (Matthew 6:25–34)
Jesus told His disciples: “Do not worry about your life.” Why? Because worry flows from unbelief, the fear that God won’t provide or protect.

When life shifts, we often see God as distant or inattentive. But anxiety invites us to ask: Do I believe God cares for me as much as He cares for the birds of the air and the flowers of the field?
👉 Reflection Prompt: Lord, help me trust Your care today instead of worrying about tomorrow.
🌿 3. Anxiety Tests Our Trust in God’s Power (Matthew 8:23–27)
When the storm raged, the disciples panicked. Jesus calmed the waves with a word. His question to them still speaks to us today: “Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?”
In seasons of transition, the “storms” may look like schedules, finances, or health fears but the truth remains: Jesus has authority over every wave.
👉 Reflection Prompt: Lord, instead of asking “what if,” help me say, “I trust You.”
🌿 4. Anxiety Calls Us Back to What Matters Most (Luke 10:38–42)
Martha was overwhelmed and anxious about many tasks, but Jesus gently redirected her: “You are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed.”
September is busy. But what if your greatest act of peace this month is simply to slow down, sit at His feet, and let Him realign your heart?
👉 Reflection Prompt: Lord, teach me to rest in Your presence instead of rushing through my days.
